Charity Support

Each year, we partner with both national and local charities to support a wide range of important causes, raising hundreds of pounds and working closely with our customers to make a positive difference. Alongside fundraising, we frequently run initiatives that directly support those who need it most. In recent years this has included toy appeals, book and school uniform donations, and a successful coat appeal, helping to provide practical, direct support within our community. Details of our charity campaigns and activities are shared throughout the year on our What’s On page.

Event Spaces

The Red Dragon Centre is a regular hub for community pop-ups, from local markets and card shows to charity awareness events, fundraising activities and more. We regularly use these spaces to host engaging community events and support both local and national charities, as well as working with emergency services on public engagement and awareness activities.

Events have included anti-bullying workshops, CPR training sessions, bucket collections, choirs, and musical playathons with Forte School of Music, a seasonal favourite.

Community in Action

We are proud to support our local community all year round through a range of initiatives that make a direct and meaningful impact. This includes working with local schools on important projects, sponsoring Tiger Bay FC in our area, regularly providing raffle prizes for community fundraising, and celebrating local heroes. Most recently, at Easter, we ran a search for a local hero and rewarded the winner with a complimentary day out at The Red Dragon Centre.

Buzz in the Bay Project

In 2025, we launched our Buzz in the Bay project at The Red Dragon Centre to support our local environment and highlight the vital role bees play in our ecosystem. We were delighted to launch the project with St Cuthbert’s Primary School, inviting children to help us seed wild meadow pockets around the Centre, which have since flourished into 2026. The pupils also helped create bug hotels on site and learned about our bee hotels, which have now been installed in trees across the Centre to support local biodiversity. Pollinator-friendly plants have also been installed at both entrances to further encourage and support local wildlife.

Environmental Impact

We are committed to reducing the environmental impact of The Red Dragon Centre and continually improving our sustainability performance. We work closely with our brands, suppliers and partners to operate efficiently and take meaningful steps to reduce the Centre’s overall environmental footprint. Many of our events also include environmental themes, from upcycling activities to initiatives focused on protecting and celebrating our planet.
