Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets

Release date: 2nd August

Valerian is based on ground breaking graphic novel that inspired a wave of comic book artists, writers and filmmakers. Tasked with the exploration of the magnificent city of Alpha, romanced team Valerian (Dane DeHaan) and Laureline (Cara Delevigne) must fight to the centre of the city to understand the dark force that threatens to destroy not only the beautiful city, but the universe.

The Emoji Movie

Release date: 2nd August

Ever wondered what’s really inside your smartphone? In the world of Textopilis, each emoji has just one expression except Gene. Tired of being the odd one out and desperate to be used Gene is determined to stay out of the ‘loser longue’ of unused emojis. With the help of Hi-5 (James Corden) and Jailbreak (Anna Farris) the three emojis embark on a great “app-venture” to fix Gene. But, as new threats endanger the emoji app, the three must work together to save their beloved world from deletion.

Annabelle: Creation

Release date: 11 August

Years after the devastating death of their young daughter, a dollmaker and his wife welcome the children of a locked-up orphanage into their home, only to become the victims of the dollmaker’s demented creation, Annabelle.

The Hitman’s Bodyguard

Release date: 17 August

Ryan Reynolds, world renowned protection agent embarks on his latest challenge with new client Samuel L. Jackson, a notorious hitman. Not used to fighting on the same side, the two must join forces to get to the International Court of Justice to testify on time. Their journey is not as simple as it could be with murderous dictator, Gary Oldman, doing all he can to stop them on their way.

Rough Night

Release date: 25th August

Who knew a bachelorette party could go so wrong? Finally re-uniting after year’s apart, old friends come together for a weekend of celebrating in Miami. But their partying goes too far when they accidentally kill a male stripper. Whilst desperately trying to figure out what to do, they find out there’s a lot more to the story than they first expected.

Detroit

Release date: 25th August

Based on the real drama, death and devastation that rocked Detroit through 1967, director Kathryn Bigelow sheds light on the story of three young African American men murdered at the Algiers Motel. Detroit is an incredibly powerful recount of the chaotic civil unrest throughout one of the largest race riots in the Unitised States.
