For ten weeks between 16 September and 26 November 2017, a pack of Snowdogs will be unleashed onto Cardiff’s streets, iconic buildings and open spaces as part of an extraordinary public art trail.
The magical sculpture trail has been inspired by the animated short film and book, The Snowman™ and The Snowdog, which was the sequel to the much-loved, The Snowman™, written originally by Raymond Briggs. It is being organised by Ty Hafan charity, in conjunction with Wild in Art, one of the UK’s leading creative producers of public art events.
And you will be able to find one of these spectacular dogs right here at The Red Dragon Centre, a very glitzy canine named Oscar the Snowdog. What’s more, when you unlock Oscar on the official Snowdogs app, you’ll be rewarded with a treat AND there will also be a chance to find some of his smaller pup companions throughout the Centre!
Standing at 1.5m tall, each of these large fibreglass sculptures will be individually decorated, fixed onto a concrete plinth and transported to their temporary home at a point along the trail for all to enjoy.
At the end of the trail, the large Snowdog sculptures will be sold at auction to raise funds for Tŷ Hafan.
Oscar the Snowdog is now on Facebook and Twitter at @OscartheSnowdog – give a him a paw-some Follow / Like or Both!
