THE Red Dragon Centre is holding a free Seed Planting Workshop, as they continue to encourage young children in Wales to become more aware of the environment. The workshop will be held on August Bank Holiday Monday as part of the Centre’s wider RDC Eco Kids Project.
The project consists of a series of exciting learning activities, which will run throughout the year and help educate children about the environment. The Seed Planting Workshop encourages children to ‘think green’ and takes place on Monday 27 August, 12-4pm.
During the event, children will have the chance to decorate their own butterfly pots and plant their very own cress seeds to take home, where they can see the seeds grow. The eco-activities are particularly suitable for young children, who are at nursery or primary school.
Earlier this year, RDC welcomed Echo the Eco Dragon, a dragon entirely made from recycled materials, as part of their Eco Kids Project. The eco-friendly dragon was created by Eggseeds, a sustainable and outdoor education organisation. Children were able to play on the dragon whilst learning all about recycling.
The environmentally-friendly dragon was such a success amongst Welsh youngsters, that he returned earlier this month for a brief visit.
Speaking of the Seed Planting Workshop, Emma Constantinou, Marketing Manager for The Red Dragon Centre said: “We are excited to organise another eco-friendly activity for children in Cardiff and South Wales during the summer holidays.
“The Seed Planting Workshop enables children to plant their own seeds and see them grow. It is all part of encouraging young children to ‘go green’ and become more aware of the environment.”
