October film guide

News

As the weather turns colder and the nights draw in, there is no better time to cosy up with a great film at ODEON.

We’ve rounded up some of the top new picks to enjoy this month. Don’t forget ODEON have made lots of changes to bring you a safer cinema experience. From social distancing in their auditoriums and foyers to more frequent and more thorough cleaning routines, they’ve made sure the thrill of the big screen is as safe as possible for you and their teams.

Remember to book in advance – see the full list of movies (including the return of some big classics) and book your tickets.

CAT & DOGS: PAWS UNITE!

Release date: 2 Oct

It’s been 10 years since the creation of the Great Truce, an elaborate joint-species surveillance system designed and monitored by cats and dogs to keep the peace when conflicts arise.
But when a tech-savvy villain hacks into wireless networks to use frequencies only heard by cats and dogs, he manipulates them into conflict, and the worldwide battle between cats and dogs is BACK ON.
Now, a team of inexperienced and untested agents will have to use their old-school animal instincts to restore order and peace between cats and dogs everywhere.

THE ELFKINS

Release date: 2 October

The legendary Elfkins of Cologne were gnomes secretly helping craftsmen at night until they were ousted by a tailor’s malevolent wife 200 years ago. This is the story of their return.

SAINT MAUD (15)

Release date: 8 October

Live-in nurse Maud (Morfydd Clark) arrives at the home of Amanda (Jennifer Ehle), a famous dancer now frail from illness and trapped in her grand, isolated house.

At first, Amanda is intrigued by this religious young woman, who provides a distraction from her failing health. Maud, in turn, is bewitched by her new patient. But Maud is not all that she seems. She is tormented by a violent secret from her past and by ecstatic messages she believes are directly from God.

She becomes convinced she has been sent to Amanda not simply as a nurse, but to serve a divine purpose. As her grip on reality slides out of control, Maud’s care turns into a deadly mission to save Amanda’s soul, by any means necessary.

WAR WITH GRANDPA

With the help of his friends, Peter devises outrageous plans to make Grandpa surrender the room. But Grandpa is tougher than he looks. Rather than give in, Grandpa plans to get even.

TWO BY TWO: OVERBOARD

Release date: 23 October

On foot of the fantastic international success of “Two by Two” (aka “Ooops! Noah is gone…” aka “All Creatures Big and Small”…), which has sold world-wide and continues to enthrall its audiences as we write this, we are left with the feeling that there is so much more to share from this world.
We intend to explore this world both on the ark and underwater with our weird and wonderful community of unlikely friends and foes who did and did not get onto the ark.

PIXIE

Release date: 23 October

She has to pit her wits against everyone, taking on the patriarchy to claim the right to shape her own life.
