DOCTOR SLEEP (15)

Release date: 31 October

‘Doctor Sleep’ continues the story of Danny Torrance, 40 years after his terrifying stay at the Overlook Hotel in The Shining. Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson and newcomer Kyliegh Curran star in the supernatural thriller, directed by Mike Flanagan, from his own screenplay based upon the novel by Stephen King.

THE AERONAUTS (PG)

Release date: 4 November

Wealthy widow and pilot Amelia Wren, and headstrong scientist James Glaisher, are ‘The Aeronauts’. Together, they mount a dangerous balloon expedition to try and fly higher than anyone in history.

He wants to discover how to predict the weather, and she’s the only one who can fly high enough to do it. But where they’re going, the air is thin and chances of survival are slim, and this perilous ascent will reveal their true selves to each other and themselves.

Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones star in ‘The Aeronauts’, a thrilling adventure to the edge of the atmosphere from the director of ‘Wild Rose’.

MIDWAY (12A)

The Japanese raid on Pearl Harbour during the Second World War was the greatest intelligence failure in American history. But a follow-up attack was foreseen: the battle of ‘Midway’.

The American navy may have known the attack was coming, but they were still underdogs with an undermanned fleet. Up against an overwhelmingly powerful adversary, they fought a decisive battle that would be a turning point in the War.

Ed Skrein, Patrick Wilson and Aaron Eckhart star in ‘Midway’, a spectacular war film about one of the most important naval battles in history, from the director of ‘Independence Day’.

THE GOOD LIAR (15)

Career con artist Roy Courtnay (McKellen) can hardly believe his luck when he meets well-to-do widow Betty McLeish (Mirren) online.

As Betty opens her home and life to him, Roy is surprised to find himself caring about her, turning what should be a cut-and-dry swindle into the most treacherous tightrope walk of his life.

21 BRIDGES (15)

Chadwick Boseman stars in STX Films’ ’21 Bridges’, an action thriller produced by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo and directed by Brian Kirk.
Thrust into a citywide manhunt for a pair of cop killers, a disgraced NYPD detective (Boseman) uncovers a massive and unexpected conspiracy. As the night unfolds, lines become blurred on who he is pursuing, and who is in pursuit of him. When the search intensifies, extreme measures are taken to prevent the killers from escaping Manhattan as the authorities close all 21 bridges to prevent any entry or exit from the iconic island.
