This National Fitness Day, 16 September, Fitness Quarter is highlighting some of the changing trends in how people are choosing to train, with growing interest in strength training, functional fitness and HYROX.
Women now make up 48.1% of Fitness Quarter’s membership, up from around 43% when the gym opened in 2024. Visits from women who have remained active members have also increased by around 20%.
Strength training is also proving increasingly popular, with average attendance at Fitness Quarter’s Strength & Conditioning classes almost doubling since they launched. There has also been a strong response to HYROX, with more than 650 class attendances since the programme was introduced in May. The gym now offers nine regular HYROX sessions each week.
To mark National Fitness Day, Fitness Quarter is hosting an all-day Hang Challenge, giving members the chance to test their grip strength and muscular endurance. The challenge runs from 6am to 10pm, with a leaderboard updated throughout the day and free membership prizes for the top three participants.
