December, already!
It feels like this year has flown by but at the same time, there have been times where it has really dragged. Still, there’s light at the end of the tunnel and I hope you’re looking forward to Christmas as much as I am.
Hopefully you’ve taken some positives out of 2020, I’ve definitely upped my cooking skills – I made some home-made burgers during lockdown that went down pretty well – not a patch on Five Guys though. I’m glad to hear they’re staying open and the fact they’re right next to our studio, is a bonus. It’s also a good thing I can go to Simply Gym – I should probably be going there a few more times than I have been… Whoops!
It’s been great to see how people have persevered throughout the year and made the best of things. Kally and I have been hosting events virtually which has been good fun. Our highlight has to be switching on Merthyr’s Christmas lights with Santa, on Facebook Live – our team created a ‘Santa’s Grotto’ in our studios here at the RDC and we were starstruck to be working with the main man himself!
‘The Best of Capital’s Jingle Bell Ball with Barclaycard’ was EPIC. We got to enjoy huge performances from Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran, One Direction, Justin Bieber and loads more, all from the comfort of our sofas. Relive it all, at CapitalFM.com. The fact it was on my birthday was also a bonus, I think they organised it especially for me but Kally keeps telling me it was purely a coincidence.
Speaking of Kally, her Christmas song, ‘Christmas Dinner (I Love You)’ has been getting some plays on the show too. If you haven’t heard it, you should check it out but be warned, it’s highly catchy. I challenged her to write and record one last year and just like any Christmas song, it’s timeless and gets better every year.
This Christmas is going to be different for us all, I’m going to be seeing my family for the first time since August, which I’m really looking forward to and Kally is hosting her first every Christmas in her new home. Good luck Kal – try not to burn the Turkey!
If you’ve listened to our show in 2020, thank you. It’s been an honour to keep you company through this funny old year. Next time you’re in the Red Dragon Centre, be sure to give us a wave at the window.
Here’s to 2021, a vaccine and a better year for everyone!
Merry Christmas.
